*NEW* JANUARY 2021 - Very excited for the "experiential "album drop of The Changelings in the new year! Thanks to funding from the Rainwater Innovation Grant, our creative team has pivoted development of this musical project to an experimental immersive audio version of the play that audiences can experience at home.
OCTOBER 2020 - The Changelings is a finalist in the Aperture development portfolio with Berkeley's West Edge Opera's. The Changelings is one of twenty-one new musical pieces eligible to receive $60,000 in development funds over the 2021 production year.
FALL 2020 - Megan will be a visiting faculty member at Bennington College for the 2020 fall semester teaching two courses in playwriting and storytelling across media.
* MAY 2020 - Megan and the creative team of The Changelings : An immersive Climate Change musical, are the recipients of the Rainwater Innovation Grant, awarded by the Butler School of Music at UT Austin. Book writer Megan Tabaque, composer Michael Zapruder, and director Hannah Wolf will travel to Austin to present a workshop concert performance of the latest draft. *rescheduled due to pandemic
*APRIL 2020 - Megan and director Hannah Wolf will team up again in Los Angeles this spring to put together an experiential reading of Two Sweaty -or- Cycle Play , Megan's two-hander about two murderous women addicted to spin class. Dates and venue TBD. *rescheduled due to pandemic
MARCH 2020 - Egg and Spoon Theater collective is hosting a workshop reading of Megan's play, Galactic Orphans, as part of their incubation series, to be directed by NYC artist Graham Schmidt.
SPRING 2021 - Decapitations will have its world premiere with Salvage Vanguard Theater, at their soon-to-be new space on Rogge Ranch LLC in Austin, TX.
FEBRUARY 2020: Salvage Vanguard Theater's Works Progress Austin series presents a developmental staged reading of Megan's full-length play Decapitations, in partnership with the Asian American Resource Center of Austin.
DECEMBER 20-22, 2019 / PORTLAND, OR: Mississippi Studios is producing a remount of the Museum of Human Achievement's 2018 holiday rock adaptation of Batman Returns Returns at Revolution Hall, starring Heartbones band mates Sabrina Ellis (A Giant Dog, Sweet Spirit) and Sean Tillman (Harmar Superstar), with Megan directing. OCTOBER - NOVEMBER 2019: Penfold Theater presents Ghost Quartet by composer Dave Malloy (Tony-nominated creator of the Broadway hit “Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812"), directed by Liz Fisher, in which Megan plays the role of Brittain.

SEPTEMBER 2019: Megan was awarded a Tofte Lake Center residency (with director Hannah Wolf and composer Michael Zapruder) to further develop The Changelings, an immersive concert musical about carbon footprints, glamping, and Greek myth.
AUGUST 16-18, 2019: Megan's play about a pair of sisters obsessed with spin cycling and revenge, Two Sweaty, is part of the Rite Out Loud Festival at The Austin Scottish Rite Theater August 16th - 18th, 2019. Tickets and event details here.
